First Person on Scene (FPOS)

Course Information
This course is regulated by Institute of HealthCare Development (IHCD) and EdExcel. It has been designed to provide students with an increased knowledge and superior skills in pre-hospital care, enabling them to manage an ill or injured casualty within the first few minutes of a situation until handover to the medical services. This course would be of benefit to anyone who may be involved with a casualty, especially security related emergencies and requires a greater knowledge and competence to be able to deal and care for casualties until further assistance arrives. The training is delivered by highly experienced trainers within the fields of first aid and ballistics, our training is presented in a relaxed manner with the right blend of theory and practical sessions. We use the latest casualty simulation to provide as much realism as possible so you achieve the best results from our training package.

  • Management of Chest Injuries
  • Management of Bleeding and Shock
  • Management of Head Injuries and Unconscious Casualties
  • Environmental Control and Evacuation Triage
  • Mechanism of Injuries
  • Management of Extremity Injuries
  • Management of Burns and Scalds
  • Basic Life Support
  • Shock Advisory Defibrillation
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Scenario Based Practice

Course Duration / Qualification 
The course is delivered over 5 consecutive days. Graduates receive a certificate from the Institute of Healthcare Development (IHCD), clinically endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh
