Automated External Difibrillator (AED)
Course Information
The course is designed to teach suitably qualified first aiders the safe and effective use of the Automated External Defibrillator; this can improve the chance of survival for a casualty in cardiac arrest. The AED is a technology that has been made available to the public and is now available in most large public areas/workplaces.
Course Objectives
Students will cover the following topics:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Heart related conditions
- Understand the concept of defibrillation
- Safely and effectively use the AED
- Combine BLS with AED
- AED safety measures
- Use of hand held suction units
Course Duration / Qualification
A minimum of 4 hours providing a recognized 1 year qualification
Further information
Pre-requisite for the course is an appropriate first aid certificate. The course includes handout folders and handouts per student and the option of an AED book
